Hello, everybody! To start, I'm happy to announce that the Otachan video has officially entered production (or, at least, the editing stage, which is the stage that I actually start making what you'll end up watching)—which, if you've been keeping up with this video's horrifically turbulent development, may be a tad bit surprising. The Otapocalypse that took over my life from the early hours of July 2nd to the afternoon of July 3rd (not sure what I'm talking about? Read this), for the most part, was survived—though I'd certainly like argue that a small portion of my soul was lost along the way. The script isn't entirely done, but I'm happy to announce that the solidified portions have been recorded and are now being edited together.
Overall, the events of the Otapocalypse didn't affect nearly as much as I thought they would, and I'm honestly very grateful that the whole ordeal even happened, as horrible and stressful as it was in the moment. The situation essentially forced me to go back to the drawing board, making me re-do my research under the assumption that every single word out of OtakuVs's mouth was a lie—an assumption which very quickly turned out to be, for the most part, true. I now believe I hold the largest repository of OtakuVs-related content on the internet; to call myself an OtakuVs scholar would be an understatement, and quite the insulting one at that. With this incredibly wide view of the channel and the man behind it—a view that, I remind you, I did not have when I set out on this horrible, terrible, awful, no-good journey—I have been able to refine my points and arguments in a way that I'm incredibly satisfied with. Though my thesis remains largely unchanged by this new research, it is now able to be supported in a much more effective way, and that's what it's all about at the end of the day.
As for the video itself, I'm having a lot of fun with editing. It's not necessarily my favorite activity in the world—hey, pal, how about you try spending a whole night's work on two fucking minutes of a video—but, on the technical side of things, it's going quite well, and the technical side of things are the only side of things I can truly complain about. In my old videos, I used Vegas 14, and, mid-production of my last video (all the way back in December of 2024!), Vegas 15. Both, as Vegas is known to do, crashed incessantly. I'm happy to report that I've only experienced a single crash when it comes to my current editing software, Kdenlive. Any more, and I might just do something crazy! Haha! (<-- Cry for help.) Currently, my main issue is making the video distinct stylistically without being intrusive or making the editing experience any more strenuous and complicated. For now, I've settled for simply using fonts for any and all text on-screen that correspond to the media used in frame. It's cute, I think... I'm also considering putting an atrocious border around the entire screen, like how Scott the Woz does it. If anyone wants to design me an atrocious border for no payment whatsoever, hit me up. :).

Alright, alright—I hear you. Who gives a shit about editing? I know what you're here for. Let's talk about my cosplay.
So, for the uninitiated, one day, I had the horribly irresponsible idea to shoot a portion of the video in full Otachan cosplay—to my knowledge, the first in existence (don't correct me on that if you learn otherwise; let me have this). As it stands, the entirety of parts 3—The OtaTakeover—and 4—The Otapocalypse (not to be confused with the July 2nd, 2026 apocalyptic event of the same name)—are shot in two variations of the cosplay (her main and casual outfit respectively). This thing cost an embarassingly high amount of money, especially for what it looks like, coming in at a modest ~$70 USD. That may not seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, but let me tell you, as someone whose soul leaves her fucking body whenever spending more than $30, it hurt a little. Still, it came in today, and I'm pretty excited to show it off! I shipped some early pics off to renowned cosplay critic AnthonyZoxide for initial thoughts, and he wrote that it "has potential for her sinister soul," whatever that means. Oh? You want to see it? HA! That costs extra. A showcase video is going up on my Patreon soon (when I can figure out how to fit the entire cosplay in the shot without it looking bad, anyway). For everyone else, you'll just have to wait, it seems... or get someone to leak it. That's a thing that happens, right? Sigh... I better make back the ~$200 put into this video so far. @ YouTube, give me a million dollars, please? Please? Please...?
Finally, I'd like to once again address the state of this blog. July was okay, hitting nearly half of what I should be putting out, but that isn't a very high bar, now, is it? Frankly, I've been feeling quite depressed since the start of July, and I'm not entirely sure why. The worst of my moods come and go—I think the worst was just two days ago on August 1st, where I refused to get out of bed for hours, refused to speak for the majority of the day and, most inconsequentially but funniest of all, took a shower and was ambushed by some sort of cellar spider from which I cowered in a corner whilst crying and pleading for it to go away. Yes, feel bad for me; yes, I was born in a wet cardboard box all alone. Anyway, that colorful little picture is to showcase to you how my life has been going lately, and with that picture, I hope you can understand that I'm not exactly raring to go when it comes to this blog. I've made plenty of, like, 75% completed posts to be released on time, but I've never gone through with it. Unfortunately, the majority of this month's outputs will probably be those old posts. I'd like for them to see the light of day, that's all. I hope you can forgive my inactivity—I'm going through a lot at the moment, and while I certainly don't want your pity, I do want your understanding. This month, I'm going to try to hit every single post on schedule, even if its "old" content and thoughts of mine. Wait, what? I already missed Sunday? NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....
Anyway, that's about it! As for the video's release date, optimistically, it'll be within the month; realistically, it'll be sometime in September. I've no clue how long the video will end up being, but, doing some Quick Math, it'll certainly be over an hour long, perhaps multiple. A preview of the video's introduction (which clocks in at around eleven minutes long) will be up on my Patreon whenever it's finished. I wish I had more to report, honestly... The bad thing about good news in these newsletters is that they don't make for particularly long or interesting posts. I mean, the Otapocalypse newsletter did numbers, man—it seems to be human nature to be fascinated by misfortune, but I'm not here to play into human nature (that's what I'd do if I placed ads on this blog; you think about that). As for me, though I'm obviously in a bit of a rough spot at the moment, I'll be chipping away at this video, and it'll be out before you know it. "Ota On!" Kim says, as she is immediately shot in the head by a CIA sniper from across the street. Her funeral is this Wednesday.
